• GUERLAIN: 15 nových Shalimarů (by Luca Turin)
REEDICE: musím s vámi sdílet vtipný obrázek přivandrovalý z netu a recenzi Lucy Turina na Shalimar Souffle de Parfum / Guerlain, vlastně máme stejný názor.
“There are 15 Shalimars out there ranging from the sublime original to the ludicrously named Shalimar Parfum Initial L’Eau Si Sensuelle , which I have yet to experience. The pressing need for this new one is not clear to me, but I guess these days the Red Queen rules: if you’re not running you’re losing ground. Guerlain feels compelled to release something or other every few weeks—witness fully 22 fragrances since Jan 2013. The secret to the ideally-placed center of gravity of the original Shalimar, reputedly a heavy, sweet fragrance, was an enormous but easily overlooked citrus note up top that acted as an anticipated palate cleanser.
This SSDP reproduces that, but in a much more skeletal form, no doubt due to the restrictions on citrus oils currently hobbling perfumery. The difficult transition with citrus orientals always occurs fifteen minutes into the fragrance where the chord slips from lemon to vanilla, which in edible terms often translates as cheap chocolate with fruit filling. SSDP falls face first into that trap and just smells cheap and dissonant until things pick up again in the far drydown, which is surprisingly pleasant and durable. But why bother?” (zdroj: http://arabia.style.com/beauty/beauty-counter/spring-summer-fragrances-2014-luca-turin-reviews-fendi-furiosa-guerlain-shalimar-souffle-de-parfum/#7)
